When academic research meets the real market, and when industry observers engage in dialogue with frontline practitioners, a discussion about the "future" quietly unfolds.

A Special Visit

In July 2025, the Disposable Underwear Technology Research Center of China Textile Engineering Society was officially established at Xiamen U-Pack New Life Technology Co., Ltd.

Recently, Dr. Cai Tao — Standing Director of China Textile Engineering Society, Secretary-General of Fujian Textile Engineering Society, President of Shishi China Textile Institute of Apparel and Accessories Industry, and Professor-level Senior Engineer — visited our company. He had an in-depth and candid exchange with Mr. Lin Jian, Chairman of the company, focusing on industry trends, market changes and future product directions.
The true maturity of an industry cannot be separated from the synergy of three forces:
  • Guidance from cutting-edge academic research
  • Genuine feedback from market practice
  • Continuous improvement of industry standards

The Textile Engineering Society is both an observer and a promoter of the industry; Xiamen U-Pack is a frontline practitioner rooted in the market and also actively participates in the construction of industry standards. This collision between the two roles brought forth many thought-provoking perspectives.

What Will Determine the Future of Disposable Underwear?
When talking about the future product direction of the industry, Dr. Cai Tao put forward a vivid metaphor:

Enterprises must have both "face" and "substance".

The so-called "face" refers to taking the initiative to assume industry responsibilities from an industry-wide perspective. For example, taking the lead in formulating group standards and filling industry gaps — this reflects an enterprises influence and vision.

The "substance", on the other hand, means returning to the product itself, steadily addressing users real needs, and truly delivering excellence in experience, quality and safety.

Chairman Lin Jian also shared his insights:

Unlike complex industrial products, the room for "involution" in the technology and craftsmanship of disposable underwear is actually limited. What is truly worthy of long-term investment is innovation in materials and fabrics.

At present, the company has continued to layout in this direction, and bamboo fiber fabric will become one of the key materials for future development. It has strong comprehensive advantages in environmental protection, comfort and functional performance.

However, to truly solve the environmental problem of disposable products, there is still a key challenge — degradable materials for elastic bands.

Currently, both pure cotton and bamboo fiber main fabrics can be naturally degraded, but elastic bands remain an environmental shortcoming. To this end, the company is also continuously exploring more environmentally friendly and sustainable alternatives, hoping to promote the upgrading of disposable products towards true green development from the perspective of overall product structure.

How to Create Content That Truly Adds Value to the Industry?

When the topic turned to market public opinion and consumer perception, the two guests reached a clear consensus:
Scientific and rational popularization of knowledge is something the industry must adhere to in the long run.
Dr. Cai Tao believes that both the society and leading enterprises should use a scientific perspective to help consumers establish correct perceptions, rather than being led by fragmented and emotional information. Although consumer education requires high investment and a long cycle, it is the most valuable thing for the healthy development of the industry.
Chairman Lin Jian deeply agreed.
With the expansion of market scale and the acceleration of new media communication, some one-sided or even misleading voices are easily amplified, such as:
  • Excessive "comparison" of antibacterial levels
  • Controversial interpretations of sterilization packaging methods
  • Various conceptualized and anxiety-driven marketing practices

These trends can easily lead to consumer misunderstandings and trap enterprises in meaningless involution. The truly sustainable path is still to return to science, standards and real needs.

Devote Time to the Right Direction

During the exchange, the two sides also conducted in-depth discussions on the development trends of multiple cross-industries and the planning direction of authoritative industry certification systems.
Market changes wait for no one. Only by gaining early insight, making continuous investment and persisting in the long term can enterprises build real competitiveness in uncertainty.
Kicking off the new year 2026 with such a high-quality ideological exchange is not only an expectation for the companys own development, but also for the sustained and healthy growth of the industry.

We go further when we go together!
